Shana Alexander, MSN, LPC-S, PMHNP-BC

Shana Alexander is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor. She obtained her Bachelor's in Psychology from Sam Houston State University and her Master of Arts in Counseling from St. Edward's University. Following her clinical experiences at Seton Behavioral Health, Private Practice, and Integral Care, where she began to recognize deficiencies in patient care related to therapy and medication management, Shana pursued further education at The University of Texas at Austin and achieved her Master of Science in Nursing, specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health.

In her current role as the Lead Clinician and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Austin DBT Associates, Shana delivers holistic care through medication management, therapy, and mentorship of new DBT clinicians.

Her personal journey as a mother who faced mental health challenges during pregnancy and childbirth has fueled her advocacy for expecting and new mothers, highlighting the pressing need for improved mental health support within the healthcare system. Through her involvement in The Newborn Project, Shana seeks to drive awareness and advocate for meaningful changes that prioritize the well-being of women, mothers, and their families in accessing quality mental and physical health care.
